Experience

Alan most recently worked in Deloitte’s Reorganization Services Group in the Pacific Southwest Region. He has over 25+ years of combined experience in operations, and financial analysis and management. His finance experience includes management of a loan portfolio, valuation of intangible assets and businesses, and financial planning and forecasting for two high-technology start-up firms seeking venture capital funding. He has worked for both debtors and creditors in bankruptcies, including billion dollar (assets) companies in the telecom and construction industries, and he has performed over two dozen due diligence engagements to assess the financial situation at distressed companies.

He has constructed and edited complex financial models for planning, forecasting, and assessment purposes. These have included discounted cash flow models, dynamic cash flow forecasting models, and integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasting models. His financial analysis skills include valuation of companies, partnerships, inventory, technology, patents, and other assets for tax, transaction, and financial reporting purposes. Additionally, Alan has assisted in numerous forensic and litigation cases.

Prior to working at Deloitte, he worked for Six Flag’s Corporation (then a division of Time Warner) where he had responsibility for three cost centers and over 110 employees.


Technical And Special Expertise

Alan has served as the primary advisor for the Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committee of a bankrupt telecom company for over nearly two years. He has assisted a billion dollar construction company in bankruptcy proceedings with a fraudulent conveyance action that was alleged to have caused the bankruptcy. In addition, he has assisted with the liquidation of the assets of a bankrupt commercial airline and a bankrupt retailer.

He has assisted a leading, global telecommunications company in establishing a rigorous internal controls system to achieve compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and address deficiencies identified by the company’s external auditor.

He has led ten lender due diligence engagements to assess the operations and financial situation of distressed companies, and was a team member on over a dozen other engagements. In addition, he has assisted two high technology companies in developing and preparing a business plan to obtain outside funding. One eventually went public Alan has led a project team that assisted a multi-billion dollar global consumer products company and its US subsidiary in determining a market entry strategy, distribution strategy, and positioning for a new product category in the US.
